
Claire Buckley
National Public Health Lead for Chronic Conditions, HSE
Prof. Claire Buckley graduated as a medical doctor from UCC in 2003. After completion of General Practice Training in 2009, she was awarded a Master of Public Health in 2009 and a PhD in 2014, both from UCC. In 2016, Prof. Buckley was appointed as a Specialist in Public Health Medicine (HSE) and as a Senior Lecturer (School of Public Health, UCC). Since 2022, she is the National Public Health Lead for Chronic Conditions within the HSE. In this area of prevention and management of chronic disease, Prof. Buckley is co-PI/PI on grants worth more than €9 million and has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. In 2023, she was appointed as honorary professor at the School of Public Health in UCC.
