Kathleen Bennett

Professor of Biostatistics; Head of Data Science Centre

Prof. Kathleen Bennett is Professor of Biostatistics in the RCSI School of Population Health. She completed a BSc in Mathematics with statistics and a PhD in statistics at Southampton University and worked in industry before pursuing an academic career in epidemiology and population health. Prior to joining RCSI in 2016, Prof. Bennett conducted research in the area of cardiovascular epidemiology and pharmacoepidemiology in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Trinity Centre for Health Sciences based at St James’s Hospital, Dublin. She was funded under a HRB Research Leader Award until 2021, when she became Head of the Data Science Centre, RCSI.

Her research interests include cancer epidemiology, chronic disease and pharmacoepidemiology. The RCSI Data Science Centre supports research and education at RCSI, by providing consulting on study design, analysis and reporting of health research, as well as teaching and training in research methods, biostatistics and bioinformatics.
